Please join us for a script reading of The Insiders to learn more about the roles in preparation for the auditions being held in the weeks afteer.
The Outsiders tells the story of two young Greasers – Ponyboy and his best friend Johnny – as they navigate a gang war between the poor Greasers and the rich Socs across Tulsa Oklahoma. When one gang member kills a member of the other gang, tensions escalate, battle lines are drawn, and lives are changed forever.

CHARACTERS:
Ponyboy – 14-20 year old male, Greaser, caught in the middle of a gang war but doesn’t entirely subscribe to gang life. Youngest of 3 brothers. Best friend of Johnny.
Sodapop -16-22 year old male, Greaser, high-school dropout who wants to make a life for himself. Very protective of his brother Ponyboy.
Darry – 18-25 year old male, oldest brother of Sodapop and Ponyboy, and their sole carer. Tough but fair, he’s working himself to the bone to make sure his brothers have a better life than he had.
Johnny – 16-20 year old male, Greaser, Ponyboy’s best friend. Comes from a neglectful family. Shy and timid, he still has a fire about him when needed.
Dallas – 16-22 year old male, roughest and meanest of the Greasers. Will fight and die for his gang.
Two-Bit – 17-23 year old male, Greaser, life of the party and will steal anything that isn’t nailed down. Lively and a joker, very protective of his friends, especially Johnny.
Sandy – 16-20 year old female, Sodapop’s girlfriend. Sweet and friendly, but can get along with the gang like she was born into it. Will also play the role of the Nurse
Cherry – 18-25 year old female, Soc who is more than meets the eye. Girlfriend of Bob and goes to the same school as Johnny and Ponyboy
Bob – 18-25 year old male, Soc, responsible for one of the worst attacks on the Greasers. Will also play the roles of the Doctor and Paul.
Randy – 18-25 year old male, Soc, friends with Bob and joined in the attack with him. Will also be playing the role of Jerry.
Marcia 18-25 year old female, Soc, friends with Cherry, and can be a bit sarcastic. Will also play the role of Mrs. O’Briant.
