The Fire Raisers – Tickets now ON SALE!

Fires are becoming something of a problem. But Biedermann has it all under control. A respected member of the community with a loving wife and a flourishing business; surely nothing can get to him. The great philanthrope, he is happy to meet his civic duty and give shelter to two new houseguests, and when they start filling the attic with petrol drums, he’ll help them wire the fuse.

Frisch’s parable shows us the dangers of accommodating the very thing that can destroy you.

Mother and Son – NOW SHOWING!

Pip Le Blond who bought to us classic TV adaptions such as Till Death Do Us Part and The Last Of The Summer Wine, has gathered a talented cast for this much loved iconic sitcom, Mother And Son.

Written by the original writer Geoffrey Atherden. This adaptation, takes the story into modern day with the use of mobile phones, skype calls to the Grandchildren and other contemporary references with the same well drawn characters and their familiar similarities.

The storyline follows Arthur as he tries to plan for a special (and much deserved) vacation away with his new girlfriend. But Maggie and Arthur’s scheming brother throw all sorts of obstacles into his path.

Phantom Call – NOW SHOWING!

This is a rags-to-riches tale, which begins with a séance attended by an unsuspecting group of very amateur spiritualists and one very sceptic and unwilling participant.

Imagine receiving horseracing tips from “the other side” which actually prove to be on the money.
This is an entertaining and very funny romp, which perhaps uncovers a different side to each of their personalities.
More importantly how does a “hair artiste” have inside information about the Sydney race industry and will it affect life as we know it?

The Shoe-Horn Sonata – NOW PERFORMING!

In 1945 Sheila and Bridie were freed from a Japanese POW camp.

Now after a half-century separation, the filming of a TV documentary forces them to relive the past. Woven into their fifty years of separation are a shoe-horn and the threads of loyalty and love which form their ‘uncommon bond’.

The Victorian Drama League – https://www.vdl.org.au

This production of ‘The Shoe-Horn Sonata’ makes me delighted to be a reviewer. It’s refreshing and a little uncommon to have absolutely nothing but praise for a show. It deserves to have overflowing houses, which unfairly, was not the case the night I went.
..
Do your best to see this production. You’ll be very glad you did.

Theatre Matters – https://theatrematters.com.au

The Shoehorn Sonata tells the extraordinary story of two women whose lives were forever changed by the atrocities of war. It’s confronting, thought-provoking, educational and, at times, entertaining – beautifully balanced with some laughs, poignant tear-jerking moments and facts that elicit an audible gasp.
Definitely worth checking out.

Confusions – NOW PERFORMING

Confusions consists of a series of five interconnected one-act plays; ‘Mother Figure’, ‘Drinking Companion’, ‘Between Mouthfuls’, ‘Gosforth’s Fete’ and ‘A Talk in the Park’. First staged in 1976, the scenes are all loosely linked by characters or locations, but more subtly through the common underlying themes of obsession, isolation and human desire for companionship.

Ayckbourn shows his comedic genius with five stories that runs the gamut of comic technique from situation comedy to outright farce.
